Lead is the new Manage – Motivating and Recruiting a Team of Millennials

david_romanoDon’t even try to MANAGE Millennials. Seriously. That tactic, which worked brilliantly with Baby Boomers and Generation X is dead! What must be done now is for you to LEAD them. Many employers and managers see this generation as something from another world, but the fact is that millennials are people too and their numbers in the workforce are growing. Simply put the way you have managed other generations just won’t work going forward. During this session you will learn what style works best with Generation Y and how to create an environment that will increase morale and will drive a higher level of productivity. You will also be exposed to what it takes to entice this generation to work for and thrive within your company. “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything”. What a powerful quote by George Bernard Shaw! Those owners and managers that are not willing to change their mind on how to manage today’s workforce must face the reality that where they are today is likely going to be the best it will ever be.

Objective – Cover eight critical factors that must be in place within an organization in order to create a productive team of Millennials

Takeaway – Data and behavioral characteristics of Generation Y along with examples of successful systems to manage them.

An owner at Benchmarkinc and its predecessor, Romano Consulting Group, David’s professional career spans nearly 20 years of management experience in the restaurant, retail and consulting industries. His retail career began at a very young age as he worked in his family restaurant concepts such as Fuddruckers and Romano’s Macaroni Grill, and he has continued working in and around the retail industry for most of his life. His companies have been providing consulting, benchmarking, and recruiting services for over a decade exclusively for the flooring, furniture, and restoration industries. Additionally, his companies provide eLearning content and live training in the form of University Systems for multiple industries. He was also a partner of multiple flooring, furniture, and home improvement concepts in North Carolina. David received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Cornell University and an MBA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
